The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit will hold a memorial service Wednesday at 4 p.m. in honor of Joseph McLaughlin, a longtime colleague who died in August.

McLaughlin, a federal judge for 32 years and member of the Second Circuit bench from 1990 until his death last summer, was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and promoted by President G.H. Bush despite a lack of political connections or party affiliation. He was dean of Fordham University School of Law when Reagan nominated him for an Eastern District position.
