U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, second from left, celebrates the naturalization of 146 new American citizens from 51 countries Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Federal Courthouse in Brooklyn. Standing next to her is Eastern District Chief Judge Carol Bagley Amon, and District Judge Margo Brodie, third and fourth from left. Brodie, who is from Antigua, was naturalized in the Brooklyn Courthouse in 1996.

Power, who immigrated from Ireland in 1979, told the gathering she entered the “very same Brooklyn Courthouse as an Irish citizen” knowing she would “walk out as an American.”
