Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice is denying accusations from the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County that her office has a practice of listening to phone conversations that jailed defendants have with support staff in their defense counsel’s offices.

On. Oct. 15, the bar group sent a letter from its president, Steven Raiser of Raiser & Kenniff in Mineola, that said, “it has come to our attention that your office policy is to listen to phone calls from inmates to their attorneys’ offices.”
