The Dominican Bar Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the state Trial Lawyers Association have endorsed the proposition on the statewide Nov. 5 ballot that would extend the retirement age for some judges to 80.

The Dominican Bar considered, and rejected, concerns that the proposed amendment to the state Constitution would block minority candidates from the bench by allowing older judges to stay longer on the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals, said Dominican Bar treasurer Fidel Gomez.
