A doctor suffering from brain cancer and eager to prevent his wife from obtaining his riches cannot obviate his wife's right to equitable distribution by committing suicide, a judge in Nassau County has ruled in a novel matrimonial action.
In AC v. DRC / DRC v. AC, the divorce had been granted and the economic issues had been tried to conclusion when the husband killed himself, allegedly to deny his wife and children a share of the millions of dollars in assets and life insurance he left to his mother and sister.
