An upstate town court justice has been censured for suggesting that he might have fixed a speeding ticket for the daughter of a town board member in hopes of getting a raise from the board.

The Commission on Judicial Conduct said Avon Town Court Justice Michael Torregiano told a member of the Avon Town Board during an executive session that, "I took care of a ticket for [your] daughter," and "this is the thanks I get," or words to that effect, after the board refused to raise the judge's $12,000-a-year pay in December 2010.
