A matrimonial firm has lost a bid to collect about $52,700 in legal fees after a state judge found its retainer agreement "usurious on its face."

The firm, 10-lawyer Bryan L. Salamone & Associates on Long Island, asked Acting Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Spinner (See Profile) in Suffolk County to vacate his earlier ruling dismissing the case, arguing that he "misapplied the law" when he found problems with the retainer.
