A Brooklyn drug dealer who ran a notoriously violent gang, facilitated dozens of murders and remained on the lam for a decade before turning himself in has been denied a reduction in his sentence despite recent, more lenient federal sentencing guidelines.
Eastern District Judge Eric Vitaliano (See Profile) said Chaka Raysor, who was apparently hiding in plain sight and working as a law-abiding local baker while wanted on a plethora of drug charges, deserves every minute of his 17-year sentence and should not benefit from recent changes to the sentencing guidelines pertaining to crack-related offenses.
