Former political consultant Hank Morris, who was recently released from prison after serving more than two years for a securities fraud involving the state pension system, has been disbarred by the Appellate Division, Second Department. Morris, a Columbia Law School graduate who was admitted in 1979 but never practiced, did not oppose the Grievance Committee motion.

Morris, 59, pleaded guilty in 2010 to a Martin Act violation in connection with a pay-to-play scam that also brought down state Comptroller Alan Hevesi. Morris had been Hevesi's chief political consultant. In addition to serving about 26 months of a 1 1/3-to-four year prison term, Morris forfeited $19 million.
