• Risë Norman, a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, has been appointed chair of UJA-Federation of New York's Lawyers Executive Committee. She will serve a two-year term.
• Alan Appel, a domestic and international tax law expert, has joined the full-time faculty of New York Law School. He will also become director of the school's new international tax program. Appel, who was counsel at Bryan Cave, has been teaching at NYLS as an adjunct professor for several years.
