A divorcing husband has been sanctioned for abusing the judicial process by filing a "vindictive" motion that blocked his wife from going away with her boyfriend for a long weekend.

"The husband made his ex parte application without first making any attempt to contact the wife directly in a vindictive attempt to ‘punish’ the wife," Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Sunshine (See Profile) wrote in Karen E. v. Yoram E. The judge levied a $750 sanction against the husband, Yoram E., and also ordered him to pay the wife’s $7,500 legal fees in connection with the application.
