The sentencing memorandum of former state Senator Shirley Huntley, who secretly recorded conversations with other elected officials, must be unsealed, Eastern District Judge Jack Weinstein ruled yesterday in granting a petition filed by the press. The memorandum names nine people, including seven elected officials, Huntley secretly recorded from June to August 2012.

Weinstein stayed his order for 24 hours to let Eastern District prosecutors seek "a more extended stay" from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Huntley, who pleaded guilty to embezzlement, recorded the conversations under the guidance of law enforcement to reduce her sentence, which Weinsten is expected to set tomorrow.
