An upstate corrections officer who endured taunts and verbal abuse from her co-workers after accusing another guard of sexual improprieties has been awarded close to $2 million in damages by an administrative law judge with the state Division of Human Rights.

ALJ Christine Marbach Kellett in the Bronx said that while officials at the Rensselaer County Jail responded appropriately to Sergeant Lora Abbott Seabury’s sexual harassment complaint, they did virtually nothing to dissuade a "clique" of corrections officers from subjecting her to "severe and reprehensible" retaliation on a daily basis.
