The New York State Board of Law Examiners has completed grading the February 2013 bar exam, which was taken by 4,152 candidates during the two days of testing on Feb. 26 and 27. Graduates of New York law schools taking the exam for the first time passed at a rate of 73 percent, representing an increase of 11 percent from last February’s exam, the board said. The graduates of all law schools accredited by the American Bar Association who took the exam for the first time achieved a 75 percent pass rate, an increase of 6 percent over the 2012 February exam. The passing rate for all candidates, including U.S. domestic-educated candidates and foreign-educated candidates, first time and repeat takers, was 50 percent, representing a 6 percent increase over last February’s exam, the board said.
