A federal judge has entered a $500,000 default judgment against a former state prison guard who forced a psychologically vulnerable inmate into oral sex. Western District Judge David Larimer (See Profile) awarded Lucy Amador, now known as Lucy Tasama, $250,000 in compensatory and $250,000 in punitive damages for abuse she suffered as an inmate at the Albion Correctional Facility in 2001. Tasama, a Colombian national three months from completing a term for robbery and grand larceny, was forced by then-Sergeant Michael Galbreath to perform the act.

Larimer said in Amador v. Galbreath, 10-cv-67021, that while Galbreath was allowed to plead guilty to second-degree sexual assault and official misconduct in return for a 45-day sentence, Tasama, who had a "pitiable history of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, gang rape and sexual harassment by a different corrections officer at Albion," is left with severe post traumatic stress disorder.
