Bernard Malone Jr., a former Appellate Division justice, has joined Whiteman Osterman & Hanna in Albany as a senior counsel. He will focus on corporate compliance, arbitration and mediation.

Malone, a former Albany County assistant district attorney and assistant U.S. attorney, was a First Department justice from 2005-2008 and a Third Department justice from 2008-2012. He was defeated for reelection in November, finishing fourth in a four-way race for two Supreme Court openings in the Third Department. Malone and fellow Republican E. Michael Kavanagh, another Third Department justice, were bested by Democrats Richard Mott (See Profile) and Stephan Schick (See Profile). Kavanagh joined NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) as a neutral last month.
