A disbarred attorney has been accused of stealing about $213,000 in client settlement proceeds and retainer fees over a four-year period. Brian Reis was arraigned yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court on charges he stole from four clients. Reis, 52, who is charged with two counts of second-degree grand larceny, two counts of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud, faces five to 15 years in prison.

He pleaded not guilty before Acting Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Renee White (See Profile) and was released on his own recognizance. He was initially arrested in May 2012 on a Criminal Court complaint with the same charges, but was subsequently indicted in Supreme Court when the full extent of his alleged thefts was revealed.
