A cross-shaped steel beam found in the wreckage of the World Trade Center helps tell the narrative of the 9/11 terror attacks and is not an endorsement of Christianity, Southern District Judge Deborah Batts (See Profile) has ruled in a case where an atheist group tried to stop its display in a memorial museum.

In a 39-page opinion dated March 28, Batts granted motions for summary judgment filed last fall by defendants Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the National Sept. 11 Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.
