A Staten Island judge has dismissed a legal malpractice action in which a deaf client alleged that her attorneys breached their ethical duty by failing to provide a sign language interpreter when the client agreed to a settlement. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Maltese found that the client failed to state recoverable pecuniary damages.

White v. Chelli & Bush, 2013 NY Slip Op 30491, stemmed from a personal injury automobile accident involving plaintiff Marsha White, who has been deaf since birth.
