The former clerk of a Syracuse-area town court has been charged with felony counts of grand larceny, defrauding the government and falsifying business records for allegedly stealing more than $122,000 in cash collected through fines and bail. Kimberly Amidon, 45, of LaFayette, also was charged with official misconduct, a misdemeanor.

Robert DeMarco, Onondaga County’s senior assistant district attorney, said Amidon failed to deposit the funds in court accounts during 2012. He contended that Amidon used the cash personally, but declined to detail what it was spent on. After being charged on Feb. 4 in Pompey Town Court, Amidon was granted pretrial release by Justice Ralph Cognetti and ordered to reappear in court last evening with an attorney. Manlius town officials said Amidon was taken off the payroll in mid-January for undisclosed personnel reasons.
