The first members of a "swat team" of upstate judges—from left, Albany County Supreme Court Justices Joseph Teresi (See Profile) and Thomas Breslin (See Profile) and Onondaga County Acting Supreme Court Justice John Brunetti (See Profile)—began presiding over trials in the Bronx yesterday. "We have cases lined up for them," said Bronx Administrative Judge Douglas McKeon. "They are ready to go and quite anxious to go."
During their four-week stint in the Big Apple, the judges will handle cases ranging from assaults to drug and sex crimes, some dating back to 2009. Meanwhile, Brooklyn Justice Patricia Di Mango (See Profile) is chipping away at the Bronx court’s backlog by facilitating pleas—100 as of Feb. 22.
