In separate criminal matters in different counties, the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, has reversed convictions and suppressed evidence because police overstepped their bounds.

The court in Rochester, in People v. Cady, 12-00337, suppressed a handgun discarded by a suspect under police pursuit, and in People v. McGrew, 09-1308, suppressed a weapon and drugs conviction because a police officer had no authority to make an arrest more than 100 yards outside his jurisdiction.
