Authorities said a 20-year-old man is hospitalized after he apparently tried to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of a Buffalo-area court where he had just been arraigned on assault charges. Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard said deputies had properly secured Sean Riordan and were leading him out of Town of Grand Island Court on Nov. 19 when he bolted and jumped over a railing on the second floor. Howard said Riordan fell about 15 feet to the first floor. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he is listed in stable condition. The sheriff said the incident is being investigated. Riordan was arrested on Nov. 17 at his Grand Island home after his roommate reported being stabbed by Riordan during an argument, authorities said.
