New York State Bar Association President Seymour James addresses the crowd at a press conference at Touro College Jacob B. Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip on Friday as the school announced it will open a center offering referrals, assistance and legal advice for residents and small businesses coping with the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

The center, Touro Law Center Hurricane Emergency Assistance and Referral Team, will be comprised of law students and volunteer attorneys. Among the services it will provide are guidance on applying for a range of emergency assistance like food stamps and government loans, and it will offer referrals on storm-related legal issues that include insurance and landlord tenant dispute.
