The New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Attorneys in Public Service honored two New York City lawyers with 2012 Citations for Special Achievement in Public Service at a Sept. 19 reception at the Vesey Street headquarters of the New York County Lawyers’ Association.

The honorees, center, are Jonathan Darche, an assistant district attorney in Queens who volunteers at a Youth Court, and Karen Freedman, the founder and executive director of Lawyers for Children. With them are state bar president Seymour James Jr. of the Legal Aid Society and Catherine Christian, chair of the public service committee and an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.
