An assistant commissioner for the Department of Housing Preservation and Development is among seven people charged in a housing corruption probe. The charges were announced yesterday in Brooklyn by city and federal authorities and include racketeering conspiracy, bribery and extortion. The defendants include Manhattan attorneys Michael Freeman and Lee Hymowitz, several real estate developers and Wendell Walters, assistant commissioner for new construction.
