Susan Progoff has joined Dorsey & Whitney as a partner in the trial group. Ms. Progoff, who focuses on trademark, copyright, false advertising, unfair competition and Internet issues, was a partner and co-chair of the trademark practice group at Ropes & Gray.

• The executive committeeof Dewey & LeBoeuf has an-nounced that Steven H. Davis will serve a second consecutive five-year term as chairman of the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2013.

David W. Opderbeck has joined Moses & Singer as counsel in the intellectual property, Internet/technology, global outsourcing, healthcare and privacy practice groups. Mr. Opderbeck, who focuses on cybersecurity, privacy and intellectual property law, will continue as a professor and director of the Gibbons Institute of Law, Science & Technology at Seton Hall University Law School.

• Three partners at New York City law firms are among a group of 19 senior business executives selected by the Partnership for New York City to serve as David Rockefeller Fellows for 2011-12. They are Marcy G. Geller, a tax partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Peter Irwin, a corporate Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton; and Paola Lozano, a mergers and acquisitions partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

• The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law has hired John F. Kowal as vice president of programs, a new position at the think tank and advocacy group. He was with the Ford Foundation, where he directed the unit on Democratic Participation since 2008.

Neil V. Getnick, the managing partner of Getnick & Getnick, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund.
