Two court-system lawyers handily beat two Housing Court judges in yesterday’s primary election to win Democratic nominations for New York City Civil Court. In a contest for a countywide seat in Brooklyn, Sharon D. Hudson, a court attorney at the Red Hook Community Justice Center, defeated Housing Court Judge Cheryl J. Gonzales, taking 62 percent of the nearly 35,000 votes cast. Anthony Cannataro, who is law clerk to Manhattan Justice Lotte E. Wilkins, bested Housing Court Judge Sharon B. Kraus, winning nearly two-thirds of 3,257 votes in District Three.

In Rockland County, a Manhattan-based lawyer won a four-way contest for the Democratic nomination for Family Court. In that race, Sherri L. Eisenpress, a partner at Reiss Eisenpress & Sheppe in Manhattan, had 49.3 percent of the more than 16,000 votes cast. She triumphed over Karen A. Riley, head of the Children’s Rights Society in Orange County, who took 35.2 percent, Edward P. Kallen, law clerk to Rockland Supreme Court Justice Alfred Weiner, who received 12.2 percent, and Itamar Yeger, chief of appeals for the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, with 2.5 percent. Mr. Yeger suspended his campaign several weeks ago because of a medical problem.
