A program that provides what the courts have described as “a safe, supportive haven” in the courthouse for children whose parents are involved in legal proceedings has fallen victim to budget cuts.

Administrators this week mandated substantial cuts in the funding and hours of operation of 34 children’s centers. The hours of Family Court centers will be halved, while those outside Family Court will be eliminated entirely.
