Radio personality Randi Rhodes is prohibited from seeking damages in state court from employment agents she used to negotiate better contracts with syndicators, a state appeals court has ruled.
An Appellate Division, First Department, panel ruled unanimously that Article 11 of General Business Law’s §170 provides that anyone acting as an employment agent for an individual must be registered and bonded with the state. The authority to adjudicate complaints against the agents is vested with either the state labor commissioner or the New York City commissioner of consumer affairs.
