RYE BROOK, N.Y. – Andrew Cuomo accepted the Democratic nomination to run for governor with a fiery call to renew the party and reform state government, while Republicans started a high-volume attack calling him “Prince Andrew” and saying he let Albany slip into a “culture of corruption.”

Invoking the names of Democratic presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson and Bill Clinton along with New York governors Hugh Carey and Mario Cuomo, his father, Mr. Cuomo made a loud call to restore the Democratic party, which now controls all statewide offices and the Senate and Assembly majorities.
