The parents of two Long Island high school girls killed in a 2003 car crash cannot sue their school district for libel over articles in a school newspaper about the dangers of drinking and driving that they claimed falsely implied their daughters had been drinking, a state judge has ruled.

In December 2003, Alison Reilly and Christina Caroleo, both 15, were passengers in an SUV driven by then-18-year-old Omar Afzal, who lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree in Nassau County.
