Pace Law School announced yesterday that it had launched a program for prospective students looking to start school in January instead of September. The White Plains-based institution said the tough job market has spurred increased interest among May college graduates in attending law school. Those seniors may have missed application deadlines for the fall 2009 class because of belated LSAT preparation, Pace Law said in a statement.

“This is a novel way to reach students who do not want to wait until next fall to start law school,” Pace Law Dean Michelle Simon said in a statement. The class that starts in January 2010 would complete its first semester in the spring and follow up with a second, 13-week summer session. They would then join their second-year law student classmates in fall 2010, graduating in 2 1/2 years.
