A prosecutor crossed the line when she vouched for the truthfulness of cooperating witnesses before a jury in an organized crime case involving a bungled murder attempt, a federal appeals court has ruled. But despite finding that improper comments were made to the jury, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has refused to disturb the verdict against defendant Michael "Baldy Mike" Spinelli because the evidence of his guilt was "powerful and well corroborated."
