Abdool Hassad, the attorney for Anetha Barfield in her overtime pay case, prevailed in showing that Bellevue Hospital was Ms. Barfield's joint employer along with the referral agencies who regularly placed her in temporary jobs there, winning $887 in compensatory overtime, which was doubled through an award of liquidated damages, and $6,565 in costs. But the failure to secure certification as a collective action justified slashing his $340,375 fee request down to $49,889, the Second Circuit has ruled.
