Public safety is on an upswing in New York, chiefly due to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s funding commitments and shepherding of policy changes, the leader of the association representing the Empire State’s 62 elected prosecutors said Friday.

Hochul’s proposed executive budget for the fiscal year beginning in April includes an unprecedented $347 million earmark to combat gun violence and another $40 million to help district attorneys and law enforcement tackle retail theft and punish domestic violence offenders.
