As I write this article, my time as chair of the NYSBA Corporate Counsel Section (CCS) is nearing its end. This is my second term as chair, and I have been reflecting on our shared challenges and successes, and what it means to me to join an Executive Committee (EC) of a NYSBA Section and make the commitment to lead.

I believe that good leaders nurture individual talents and strengths, and gently encourage each member to make positive contributions to the Section. Leadership is about success as a whole, and each member of an EC must individually determine the extent of his/her commitment, involvement and ability to contribute. It is ultimately up to each of us to know our strengths, manage our time, and take the initiative to lead.
