Attorneys for Charles McGonigal, the former special-agent-in-charge of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division in New York, on Thursday asked a federal judge not to send him to prison for conspiring to violate U.S. sanctions against Russia.
McGonigal pleaded guilty in August to one count of conspiracy to violate U.S. sanctions and launder money, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
