The next trial pitting author E. Jean Carroll against former President Donald Trump will focus solely on damages, a Manhattan federal judge has ruled.
In his decision granting Carroll’s motion for partial summary judgment Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan said collateral estoppel applied, as a previous jury already found Trump had defamed Carroll and the facts at issue were the same.
