With the Passover recess and Israel’s 75th Independence Day celebration behind it, the country has returned its attention to the “judicial reform” proposals that gripped the country earlier this year.

Already, many Israelis have returned to impassioned displays of support or opposition to the proposals to reform Supreme Court appointments, powers, and legislative overrides. But if cooler heads can prevail, the Knesset may be able to land on some compromise measures that address the real need for judicial reform with the legitimate concerns of the initial package’s opponents.
