The Supreme Court, Appellate Division for the Third Department on Thursday carried out the ministerial task of disbarring a former elected south-central New York prosecutor who pleaded guilty to stealing case files in a failed effort to conceal his decades-old, drunken-driving arrest.

Stephen K. Cornwell Jr., the Broome County district attorney from 2016 to 2019, pleaded guilty to a Class E felony of grand larceny in the fourth degree on Dec. 5, 2022.
