Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney on Tuesday welcomed a new staff member to his office—service dog Tillman III. The 2-year-old lab mix and the DA exchanged a handshake during the midday meeting at the Hauppauge Office. In his new role as “Facility Dog,” the specially trained Tillman will work to provide comfort to victims, witnesses and law enforcement in Suffolk County. He has been partnered with Assistant DA Melissa Grier of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau. Tillman joins as the county’s last comfort dog, Mega, is expected to retire Thursday at age 12. Mega previously served in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.
