A federal class-action lawsuit alleges a St. John’s University graduate program “took advantage” of more than 100 international teaching assistants by requiring them to work more than the 20 hours per week limit set within their visas.

The breach-of-contract claim was filed on Tuesday in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, on behalf of a graduate teaching assistant of St. John’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences who said he routinely worked 25 hours per week.
