It is common knowledge that prosecutors in several jurisdictions—Washington, D.C., New York, and Atlanta, Georgia—are targeting former president Trump for crimes he may have committed in connection with the 2020 presidential election, and crimes related to his financial practices. Grand juries have been impaneled and are receiving evidence. In fact, no president or former president has ever been indicted for criminal conduct in or out of office. And we can reasonably assume that charging and bringing Trump to trial will likely be the most sensational and polarizing event in modern American history.

Will any of these prosecutors indict Trump? As James Baker, the former U.S. Secretary of State and distinguished attorney, once said: “If you’re not gonna pull the trigger, don’t point the gun.” Lest it go unsaid, a number of prosecutors in America are indeed currently unholstering their guns! And, in recent days, it has become clear that the Justice Department has visibly ramped up its interest in Trump’s role in January 6.
