An article published April 6 in the New York Law Journal quotes Office of Court Administration (OCA) spokesman Lucian Chalfen saying: “We have repeatedly maintained that the inability of Right to Counsel providers, such as [Legal Services NYC] and Legal Aid, to meet their contractual obligations and to be able to manage their operations will not adversely affect the functioning of Housing Court.”

It is unfortunate that OCA values “contractual obligations” but not internationally recognized human rights including due process and the right to housing.
