Reading commentary in this publication regarding legislation known as “Kyra’s Law” (“Kyra’s Law ‘Intuitive’ to Protecting Children in Custody Cases Lawyer Says”, NYLJ 5/12/2022), we note that the kind of tragedy which befell the child and the suffering of her mother is not correctable by the proposed legislation.
Certainly, the loss of a child is perhaps the most devastating circumstance which an individual may suffer, and much remains needed to be done to protect those children from harm within the confines of our system of justice.
