Jurors began deliberating around shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the federal trial of former Goldman Sachs managing director Roger Ng, who prosecutors say violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and conspired to commit money laundering by siphoning money from bond deals associated with the Malaysian economic development fund 1MDB.

Ng’s defense attorney Marc Agnifilo of Brafman & Associates argued during his closing statement Monday that Ng’s former boss Timothy Leissner, who testified during the seven-week trial as part of a cooperation agreement with the government, lied about Ng’s involvement in an effort to paint himself in a better light ahead of his own sentencing.
