U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan told members of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that she would “fully and completely” implement existing precedent and U.S. law on hot-button issues, if confirmed to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

The comments came as Nathan, who has served for 10 years as a federal judge in the Southern District of New York, responded to a barrage of criticism from Republican senators, who repeatedly pressed her during a hearing on culture-war topics like guns, crime and the death penalty.
