Disgraced pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli will not attend or testify at a civil trial next month that could result in his lifetime ban from the industry after a Manhattan federal judge denied his request to participate remotely.

U.S. District Judge Denise L. Cote said in a hearing Thursday that there were “many reasons” not to allow Shkreli to access the proceedings from a federal prison in Pennsylvania, where he is serving a seven-year prison sentence for defrauding investors in two of his hedge funds.
