Calling for systemic change across the legal industry aimed at helping lawyers’ health and well-being, the New York State Bar Association on Monday released a sweeping report with sure-to-be-controversial recommendations.
Law firms should cap billable hours at 1,800 per year, the association recommends, and firms should create formal “coverage” systems to avoid disruption of client services when a lawyer is away.
